I have a ten week old daughter and just started taking the pill,
I have never takin it before as I was on depo then had an IUD for 5 years.
my question is I just got to the 7 days worth of surgar pills, but havent gotten my period.....
can I get pregnant this week?? am I still protected?? should I not have sex just in case, or use other protection??
I cant wait to have more kids lol but this would be a little too soon!!!!!

you should have started your cycle no latter than the second day after you took the 1st sugar pill. If you have not had your period by the 3 sugar pill I would contact my doctor. If you took the pills as prescribed then you should be protected during the 7 days of sugar pills. If you have had any antibiotics or Penicillin during the time when you were taking the contraceptive it could have voided your pill also some herbal remedies will also void contraceptives like Saint Johns Wort for example is just one herbal that will void contraceptives, so don't stop taking the pills but do contact your doctor be sure you tell him what if any herbal remedies or antibiotics you may have taken and take a EPT just to be sure. There is a list online that tells about all the herbal and antibiotic medications that void contraceptives. It is a good thing to know. Information is powerful stuff always pays to be in the know.

Thanks ladies,
I am on the third surgar pill and still nothing,I have a little alarm I use so I have taken the first 21 perfectly..... my doctor told me I could have unprotected sex as soon as I started the pill, but the leaflet in the box said 7 days so I waited the 7 days.
I also dont breastfeed so that cant be it either, and I dont take any meds or herbal anything.
Is it possible that my body really is just still out of wack from having the baby?

You really aren't covered by ANY form of birth control until at least 60 days has passed. Your doctor should have told you all this. Google the type of birth control you have and it will usually come up with a how to use guide. All pills are different, but from what I've seen, 60 days is the norm until you're fully covered.

If you have taken all 21 pills before the sugar pills you should be fine but if you want to play it safe use another form of protection for now, your body takes a while to get used to the pill and should get on track but your next cycle. If not go to your doctor hopefully the doctor told you it takes a week or two for the pills to take and in the first couple of weeks to use other protection with your pills when you started them.

Some people want to have their children back to back . Thats fine as long as your doctor feels you and your body are ready. As for the pills, I would use condoms until your back on track with your pills, if your trying to avoid pregnacey.

Well the first week of using the pill, you should use a back up contraception like condoms, spermacide, allow some time for the hormones to kick in. So unless you got pregnant sometime during that first week, you should get your period sometime during those 7 days of the sugar pills. I am not sure about your period in terms of taking the pill AND breast feeding... Like if the breast feeding will still allow you to not have a period even while on birth control.

Use other protection. Restart the pills after the sugar pills on the 7th day after your period. Your system is either a different length than 28 days, or still out of whack from your recent pregnancy.

it takes about 3 days for your hormones to lower enough to start bleeding. dont worry. my period didnt usually start until day 4 of the sugar pills, and i was on low hormones to begin with. im sure your perfectly fine. as long as you took the first 21 pills everyday. you cannot get pregnant this week because if the pills have been taken correctly all month, you have not ovulated and will not ovulate. your hormone levels with drop within 72 hours, and you should start to bleed
