For the Medela brand, hospitals use the Symphony pumps, so does the rental stations. No other pumps should be shared between users since they are designed as "open systems". The Symphony is the only pump with the closed system and every mom uses her own kit. The symphony is especially recommended for a mom trying to establish or increase her milk supply.

I used a plain, run-of-the-mill playtex single pump and it worked fine for me. I think it cost about $30.

i have a doul evenflo! I love it i actually bought the one that said only one instead of dual. because it just has a plug for the second so you can use it as a single or double and instead of buying the dual or the second cord. when i was in the hospital i asked for the hookups and cut the end off of it and it works with my pump! and i love it i am using it for my second child and i used it alot and still working strong!!!
