My 5 week old son breastfeeds and eats formula for supplementation, but lately when I try to breastfeed he doesn't eat enough even after 20 minutes on each side. I still have to give him a couple more ounces of formula after. How do I make him eat more from the breast! It's hard breastfeeding for 45 minutes then having to make a formula bottle and feed it to him for another 20 minutes.

Breastfeeding takes more effort to suck than formula out of a bottle. The risk of supplementing if that the baby doesn't empty you each time you BF and in response you don't make enough to keep him satisfied.
Breastmilk is produced on supply and demand The more you feed and are emptied, the more you will produce.
If you want to keep breastfeeding then you need to stop the top ups.
