So i went n seen my midwife todaycause of cramping pains and she checked me over and said i was 80% effaced and 1cm dilated and to go home and research natural inducing, I used Clary sage with my first but couldn't get any this time, so i read about castor oil and this lady said she mixed 2 teaspoons into some scrambled eggs so my partner is making me eggs ATM but i was wondering what other women's experiences were with castor oil?

I highly recommend AGAINST this. It causes severe diarrhea which can dehydrate you and put the baby in distress. Not to mention you'll be exhausted from pooping for hours on end and THEN have to deal with having a baby.

Let the baby come on her own.

I did a lot of research on it as I had heard all the horrific stories. What I found was yes there is an increased risk of baby passing meconium BUT that is only if the mother is dehydrated from diarrhoea and vomiting. if you keep yourself well hydrated, so plenty of fluids through the time you are taking it then you should be fine. It has this info written on the bottle.

But keep in mind at the end of the day it may or may not work and also it may get messy. I personally had nothing bad happen, not even the runs but it is possible lol

Sheree, I wouldn't recommend castor oil, it can be dangerous for the baby. Studies have shown that there is an increase of meconium staining in the amniotic fluid of babies who have been induced using castor oil. This is dangerous for the baby. Additionally, it can cause both diarrhea and vomiting in the mother, which causes dehydration, which actually ends up having an effect on your labour and delivery. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. Your baby will come when it is ready. Or you could try sex.......that's harmless to anyone :)

Just gave me the runs and didn't bring on labour. Make sure you don't go out.
