child support/custody

live in KY and today we took DNA tests for child support on my son. His father showed up with a lawyer. Does this mean he simply doesn't want to pay or that he is going to try and sue for custody? Keep in mind that my son is 3 and he has never tried to be a part of his life or see but he does make a lot more money than I do. Please help!

If the paternity test proves that he is the father, then he will be required to pay support. BUT, a lawyer could mean several things. It could mean that he is trying to limit what he has to pay--there are ways to legally declare income during the process that will understate it. And yes, it could mean that he is trying to get custody. You won't know, but I would recommend doing your best to find legal counsel yourself so that you can prepare for any outcome.
