Last night my soon to be 14 y/o asked me how old I was when I first tried alcohol. My jaw dropped. I'm worried! Well, true story. My mom told me that when I was a baby, my dad was so drunk, he gave me beer in my baby bottle. I'm a single mom and I already talked to my son about the dangers of alcohol and drugs. And he got the talk at school as well. What do you moms have to share on the subject? Than you! =)

I did ask why he asked and he said he's curious. I thought about it all day! I'm not satisfied with his curiousity. I feel there may be other reasons for his question. I want to tell him that my stepdad gave my sister and I eggnog with rum, when we were 10-12yrs old. No one in our family drinks and when we do, it's during special occasions and no one gets crazy drunk. I will definitely continue this conversation. Thank you for your reply!! =)

That talk is not a time or two time thing. It should be an ongoing talk. I would ask questions to him and find out why he is asking. My guess is that he is asking a different question and though might be interested in when you had your first drink that is not the real information he is searching for. He is coming to you now you have to come to him and find out why and what is going on.
