My three year old daughter needs four front teeth removed due to many factors. She was a very sick baby I was very sick and on antibiotics throughtout my whole preganacy she was on anitbiotics since 2 mos to 10 mos due to chronic ear infections - all the anitbiotics and mouth breathing has lead to her teeth rotting. The dentist feels her teeth rotted as they formed those teeth have no enamel for some reason. My husband and I are completely against her being knocked out. She is scheduled for nitrous and novicaine for next week to have them removed. I really just dont know what to expect. Has anyone been through this??? Am I doing the right thing??? Dentist is telling me she will not be in pain after only maybe that day is that true???

When your child is knocked out it is always nerve racking however they don't remember the procedure itself. My daughter just went through this, doesn't remember what happened and was just sore for the next day. Our dentist did use the Papoose board and I don't like it (the idea of my daughter being tied down!!!), but it is for safety reasons. Your body has muscle spasms when in a deep sleep, when my nephew was a toddler he needed dental work done the dentist did not use a board John's arm spasmed bumped the dentist's hand which moved the drill and cut into his gums as a result John ended up getting a few stiches.

She must be pretty mellow if all the need is nitrous and Novocaine...Hopefully they do not plan on using the God awful papoose board.
After they are done, her gums will be tender but I am sure if her teeth are that bad it won't hurt as much as they do now.
If going to a hospital and having it done under general anestisa is a option,it would probably be much easier and less traumatic.Make sure you ask the dentist if he plans on using the papoose board,if he says yes, personally I think it is a VERY BAD idea to tie children down for dental procedures.
