Daughters bedtime

I feel at my wits end! My daughter is 10 and will not sleep in her own room without me! I sleep on a mattress beside her bed. She has had her own room for nearly 10 months and will not sleep alone. The situation is putting a big strain with my relationship with her dad, would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks

Why does she not want to sleep alone? Is she afraid? If so, it's time to empower her and encourage her. Was she sharing a room with a sibling? You need to move back to your bed with your partner. Get her into a set routine, put a nightlight or whatever. My son went thru a period of not wanting to sleep in his room and he had the option of sleeping on the floor of our room (we had a cot that slid under our bed for any of our four kids to use if they felt afraid). Sometimes kids have irrational fears but that doesn' mean you have to move into her room with her

Why has she only just got her own room?
What is the reason she gives you for wanting you in her room?
There is usually a period of adjustment with changes like that but you have to stop sleeping in her room. She's old enough to understand that she needs to sleep on her own. By you continuing to sleep on a mattress in her room you aren't trying to fix the problem.
