Do any of your ladies have PMDD (severe PMS)?

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

When it comes time for my period, I fall into a deep and debilitating depression. It affects my time with my stepkids and my feelings toward them, not to mention my tolerance of them. My husband is very supportive. I was just wondering if anyone else had PMDD - you can look it up online....

and how do you deal with it?

(There's also a facebook page for it)

Hi, I have the severe form of PMDD that makes it impossible for me to function normally. I have only 7-10 days a month where I feel like I'm actually living, the rest of the time its about survival. I have amazing children and a very supportive husband but the guilt that I carry around for abandoning them regularly because of this illness, is overwhelming. I haven't yet found anything that works for me but I'll never stop trying I love my family to much. I do try to schedule when possible important events into the 7-10d section of my cycle. That does help because then I know it's me, not the PMDD monster thats going to be in attendance. I'll let you know if I find anything else that works. Take care, your not alone.

I have PMDD, my friends father is a doctor and he told me to take vitamin B complex a couple days before the craziness starts. I keep a calendar now and my friends and family are very supportive...reminding me when I start being snappy, sad, and overact when dealing with situations that it is almost that time :) SamE works too. it is something you can get at the drug store or walmart that helps with your mood swings almost immediately. look it up online. I don't take it everyday like the box suggest, if I am feeling really bad I take 2 20mg tablets, if I need a little help I take 1 20mg tablet...really works....and excerise works too...anything cardio for at least 20 mins a day does wonders for your mood (I hate to exercise lol) Good luck

I deal with it as well. I just take it one day at a time. I started a new birth control pill and if it doesn't help I may look into a low dose antidepressant. Sometimes I have to look at the calander, realize what's happening and take it a little slower. I find regular exercise has helped curb a lot of it as well. Natural endorphins.

Hi there!

I would of contacted you privately but I am just now getting re-acquainted with the computer. I am a 47 year old woman that is just starting to go through pre-menupause so I can definately relate to your question. Although not diagnoised with PMDD, I often wondered since having my 13 year old if I suffered from it. I go through terrible mood swings before my cycle, during and after. Now I believe this is just pre-menupausal and something that I have to learn to relax about and let the moods come and go but I can definately feel for your troubles. If you'd like to contact me, my e-mail is, I lol, obviously have had this e-mail for a number of years. I wish you the best and hope I may be able to help you get through, who knows maybe just conversing with a friend will help your mood some. Take care!
