Does it take more than a week to transition from 2 to 1 nap?

:am wondering about what other moms did when they were transitioning to one nap or when you know your LO is ready? My LO has been resisting the second nap. So in turn i figured he was ready for one, because if he wont go down for his afternoon nap, he has a very long wakeful period. What do you think? Or what have you experienced with your LO's? Thanks for any info mommas.

I just kept him occupied until lunch had lunch then put him down for a nap. Then he went to bed at 630-7

My son did away with 2 naps fairly young. I think he was around 12 months. Same thing as you, he started refusing the second nap and it seemed to be getting shorter. So I weaned him down to one. Sometimes I would still give him 2 if I felt he needed it over the next month or two. Eventually, his two short naps turned into one long nap which he still takes at 3 years old. ;)

I just started weaning my 16 month old daughter down to 1 nap last week. She loves her sleep! But I noticed she started refusing the second nap off and on for the last month. It's also become noticeably shorter. So I started giving her one. She is a bit more tired than usual. But like my son, I'm sure she'll adjust.

She's been really tired well before her usual bedtime of 7-7:30pm. So I've been putting her to bed about an hour early if I feel she needs it (to make up for the missed nap). I'm thinking she'll eventually adjust and get back to her usual bedtime.

You can always go back to two however, if you feel he's not doing well on just one nap.

My son was 19mo's old and we just cut out the morning nap and moved the afternoon till right after lunch so about 11:30-3:30 about 4hrs.

If he is resisting the second nap, then cut it. I would just give him one nap in the afternoon. That's what I did. I laid my daughter down at noon and she would wake around 2-3.
