our daughter kirsty who has down syndrome is 33 , and was recently diagnosed as also having ASD , she was quite a normal downsie til about 20 but due we think to some sexual abuse at the home she was in started to act strangely and was first diagnosed as being bi polar . this has since been proved wrong. she is still on 100mg a day of serquel which was given to stabilise her bi polar !!! episodes. we are giving her special daily care with a trained autism expert but would like to know if ther is any medication on the market which could help correct the irregular aggressive outbursts and anti social behaviour, she was always very outgoing and touchy ---now we have to be very careful to enter her space.regards lynne Bennett capetown south africa

It sounds like you should get some therapy for her abuse since that's the likely factor. She will probably need therapist who can work with people of different developmental stages but I'm sure there's a way to help. I'm sure many factors are working in this but dealing with abuse is difficult for anyone especially someone who may have more difficulty expressing themselves.
