My daughter has her 1st ear infection @ 18 mos. She has penicilin, ear drops and a switch between advil and tylenol every 4 hours. How long do they last? And what else can I do to help relive the pain, she is in agony, been to the hospital twice in the past 24 hours...we are both losing our sanity. Any Advice?

Word of caution though. When I was a kid dealing with my own infection, the heat would feel so good that I would make it too warm and hold it too long. Earned myself a couple blisters on my ear over the years.

When I was small and would get ear aches, my dad would put about 1/2 cup of table salt in sock and heat it to relieve pain. It helped a lot and I think it stays warmer longer than a warm washcloth.

For me it was plastic surgery to fix my malformed ear and after that, I've fought ear infections all my life. Hurt like heck. Warm washcloth was the best remedy I found.

I went through alot of ear problems growing up. A warm cloth, plenty of love, and jello makes it alot better. At least it helps.
