Epileptic son

My son has been dealing with seizures since he was four months old. He's been on medication after medication and the seizures seem to have gotten worse. He's having them what seems like every other day. He just started kindergarten, a special education class, and has already had several seizures. He started school on August 8 and has already missed days. Luckily he has an IEP so the days missed shouldn't count against him. We've had test after test and his doctor told me that he has a diagnosis similar to Dravet Syndrome. I have prayed and cried and I just don't know what to do anymore. Are any of you going through this? Can you give me some advice? I need help!

Hi. Oh, dear mama, I wish I could come give you a big hug. Sometimes seizures are stubborn and medication just doesn’t seem to help. Sometimes, sadly, we have to accept that this is our reality. We have to learn to live life with the seizures. There is so much life to live too! Embrace and cherish those good days that your son has, and get back up and dust yourself off on those bad days. You have been given the gift of this precious boy, and there is no mistake that you were chosen to lead and care for him. You sound like a loving and compassionate mother who is so strong. I want to encourage you to look for the beauty in this trial. Some days that might be very hard, but I guarantee you if you look that you will find some. On the hard days, that is what gets me through. My son does not have a full diagnosis yet, but we are walking that path right now. He has seizures and other delays/issues. I will keep you and your son in my prayers.
