First time mom needs help

Hi my son will be two soon. He is pretty smart but I know some children are more advance about certain things. He copies peole like a normal 2 year old. My issue is, when should I start potty training him? I feel like he understands enough to learn but I usually sit him on theropods before baths and he freaks out. I don't expect him to go. I just want him to get used to it. Also his dad shows him how to go potty like a big boy. I'm just not sure how to go about this since he appears to be terrified of the thing.

For potty training: First, boys learn like girls by sitting down. Second, if he freaks out when he just sits on a potty or toilet, its not the right time to teach him. Third, what dad shows him is something he won't do until he is a lot older and past the training phase and knows how to handle standing up to pee. Fourth, He is only two and most boys do not start until the age of three years. Fifth, if you use pull ups be prepared for the child to use them just like a diaper. That is because they are like one in that they pull the wet away and the child does not feel what its like to have wet underware on. I would only use a pull up for going out but would use training underpants for at home. That way he will learn what it feels to be wet and it might help him start to use the potty more. I used training pants with cloth diaper covers or plastic/vinyl pants when I went out with my son so he could learn faster. Yes, its more of a mess, but in the end he learned it better than with a pull up.

While my brother was potty training I always have to survive with pee gushing everywhere
Believe me it's disgusting
