Hey everyone, I just has my 2nd baby on April 11. I am done having kids, and I am going to get a tubal ligation on Aug 12. I wanted to know how painful, uncomfortable it is. What should I expect, what was your experience with it. Please share your story, concerns etc. Thanks

I got my tubes tied about 13hrs after giving birth to my youngest son. My pain was a lot more than normal because I had an actual incision done underneath my belly button, about two inches wide. I had bruising from my naval down to my pelvic bone. Pain, I had morphine right after surgery, then took some pain pills for two days when I got home. After that I only took them at night to sleep for about a week. My friend had hers done and she is childless and she was healed and ready to go in less than a week's time.
Its worth it, I don't regret it, and I'm happy that my boyfriend and I don't have to worry about a little surprise showing up!

Have your spouse do it! They deserve something being done to their bodies too. We have the babies. It's also less expensive, can be done in office, not a hospital, and there less recovery time. My husbands choosing to go for it.

I definately do not want more kids, but I do not like the idea of something permanantly placed inside of fallopian tubes...kinda freaks me out...rather just be cut. What happens if the Enssure procedure causes all sorts of pain? Do they go back in an take them out? I just don't trust that method yet.

I had it done a year ago after my second one and it was very easy! Not very painful just a little sore and i have to agree cramps every month are a bit worse than before...Other than that i don't think you need anything but Tylenol afterwords

If you're sure you're done having kids, you might want to look into getting the Essure done instead. It's in office, not a surgical procedure, and is the only 100% effective permanent birth control other than hysterectomy. I'm just saying this because tying your tubes works often, but not always, and those that do become pregnant after having it done often have ectopic pregnancies, causing the death of the fetus as well as the possible death of the mom.

Hello !
I had my tubes done back in april, and it wasn't so bad...The only thing is, is that if you had bad cramping before you have your tubes done, the camping is a little worse...Also, they fill you w/air, so for a few weeks afterwards you have gas, and the pain from that is pretty bad...But in the long run, it's better then having to worry about birth control :-) Good Luck and hope you have a speedy recovery :-)
