charts - charts- charts...aren't all that they are cracked up to be!!! My first born weighed 5lbs 13 oz, and at 1 yr was barely 17lbs. Doc was so concerned that she ran numerous test from thyroid to cystic fibrosis test. Test basically concluded - he's just small. Now at the age of 8 he weighs close to 60lbs. Our last child weighed 6lb 3oz, and at 2 1/2 yr the "chart" says that she has be potential of being an obese person, at 29lbs....all of my kids eat great, are active, and sleep like champs. We are lucky, we live in the midwest, and get maybe 2 colds per year. So, as long as you are not worried about their eating, sleeping, and activity levels your little one is one her own schedule for growth. She could possibly gain alot of weight, and then we she starts walking she may drop weight. All children are different, and until the "charts" can accept that, they cause us mothers of worry for no reason.

At his 6-month checkup, my son was 15 lbs. He's always been on the smaller side, but now the Dr. wants us to come in for a weight-check in a couple of weeks because he dropped a little in the percentile chart. He's breastfed, and he WAS doing really well with his solids... but his teething seems to have made him completely hate solids for now. I'm a little worried, but I know that we feed him well and take great care of him. Any other moms have this problem?

My daughter just had her 2 month check up and she weighs 12lbs. She is completely fine. Keep in mind what her precent was on the charts and go from there.

ALL babies grow at different rates... There is no such thing as Normal.... Because just like adults... every baby is different also... My oldest son could've passed as a 1 years old when he was just 5 months old... height weight and all... He was just a big boy... My baby.. Is now a year and a half and only 24 pounds.. and the doctors are worried b/c he is behind in his weight. I disagree My husband is not much of a large guy.. He's super tall but super skinny.. And my youngest has his figure.. To where my oldest (lol) I don't know where his came from! He is super tall and not obese but what we okie people like to call CORN FED!.. He's stalky and in no means super skinny... So as long as your baby is eating healthy... And still acting right and all that I wouldn't worry about her weight... They'll gain and lose it also as they grow taller!

My daughter was 9 lbs 8.5 ounces when she was born. I was terrified that she would always be huge. Now, she is one of the tiniest in her class (she is almost 5). My son was 10 lbs 4 ounces at birth. He is in the 95th percentile for head circum. and weight. He is comepletely off the charts for height. He, like his father, is going to be huge. Baby weight isn't a great predictor. If she is eating, sleeping, and pooping well, chances are, she is just right.

All kids are different. I have huge children though, they get it from their daddy, I'm not that big of a person, about average actually but daddy is huge, he's 6'3". So no worries, only worry if your doc brings up the issue. Mine were bigger than that at 3 months but then they still are bigger than most kids their own ages now so who knows. What's normal is whats normal for your family. There's lots of averages out there though and I'd say your little one is doing just fine. =)

Talk about huge. My daughter is 10 months old and weighs about 24 pounds (thats about average for a one year old) She was 8 lbs when she was born, and kept steadily gaining weight. As long as you are feeding her like the doc says, shes fine. Nothing wrong with a big girl!

I think that the word normal is just pain awful.... as the parent of two completely different sized children I can tell that she sounds wonderful, happy and healthy. Enjoy motherhood.

I just posted a question like this exact one!! I think my little guy is about 13 1/2 pounds, by doing the weigh myself then weigh myself with him..So I am hoping that it is average, I feel like he is huge though! lol I think it has a lot to with how much they weighed at birth!

YES! you should only be concerned if your baby is under-weight. it just means you are doing a great job raising her. my brothers little one is 1 month and 11 lbs. no worries:)

The range of normal is HUGE - as long as she's gaining wait and wetting plenty of diapers, she should be fine - ask your pediatrician if you're worried. one of my kids was only about 8-9 pound at this age and one of them was well over 13 pounds - both were completely normal.
