As a licensed cosmetologist I will tell you no kool aid will not change her hair pink. You would need to bleach to blonde and then add the pink. But this is not I process that I would recommend for a 5 year old or for a novice to do. It is permenent. I might recommend that you get her some colored hair clip in they are in expensive and removal able daily. And they'd give the effect you and your daughter are looking for. Just take a small section near her part towards the front of her hair line lift it up and put it out of the way. Take the next section and clip the hair piece to it, then bring the first section back and it will hide the clip and she'll have the pink hair she wants without the damage to her hair.

Buy some coloured hair spray washes out.. And takes 2 mins to put it on, dark hair would need to be bleached first... My 5 year old wants lots if things she can't have, she gets over it.. But by the same token pink hair isn't too big a deàl just the ruining of her hair with bleach can't be reversed and you will have roots regrowth to deal with...

I got my daughter one of those foam applicator that applied color. She was able to put streaks of color in her hair, and it lasted until she washed her hair. There is also the new chalk craze, again it just puts some color in hair and washes right away.

I don't recommend pandering to fads at such a young age. Yes, I dye my hair, but i"m 43 years old. And only once in awhile.

Get a clipin thing, and let it go. Don't damage your child's hair

If she has dark brown hair she will have to bleach it which is horrible for a 5 year old. It makes your hair fall out. And koolaid won't show on dark brown hair and may be perm if she hates it,
My daughter has brown hair and wanted to dye it green. she she bleached it and it's falling out on the ends now. Also in order to have dyed hair you need a special shampoo which if gets in your eye stings alot.

I just used manic panic bought at a beauty supply store. Left it on about an hour and it turned out very very pinkish purple. Real cute. My 5 yo loves it. It washes out eventually. Now about a week later it's faded to about half what it was. Her hair was light brown to dark blond to start with.

It's slightly annoying the first couple days as it rubs off on pillows or if you swet and it'll turn bath water colors for days. Or as we found out, if you drool I. Your sleep and the dyed hair gets in it the dye rubs off. It REALLY stains the skin for about 24 hrs.

I used manic panic a lot when I was in HS Green and yellows dont turn out well but their pinks and reds are pretty good. It's a non permanent vegetable dye. You will have to leave it on longer than 30 mins for a vibrant color. I've never had it damage my hair even back in it's fried days.

Instead of dye you can get hair mascara pretty cheap and it will work on even dark hair and it washes out pretty easily with no damage to the hair. I saw some at the store "Five Below" for $5.

Also you can not just wash out koolaid. It has to grow out if the person is tired of it or you have to completely shave their head.

At 5 yrs old I would not recommend she be dying her hair even if it just koolaid. Besides it won't take her hair is too dark. My 8 yr old loves to have colored hair and can't wait for the day I let her dye it but for now its just clip in pieces. I would recommend a clip in piece for highlights till she is much older.
