Has anyone preferred their Ceserean birth to natural?

I had to have an emergency Ceserean the first time around, after trying to give natural birth but baby went into stress! I did not enjoy the drugs to ease the pain and it just all seemed to go alot smoother once we went into surgery, I felt happier and more confident that all would be fine and over shortly! At the time my Doctor said that She would opt for a Ceserean the next time again, atleast 2 weeks before my due date as the complications are likely to happen again ( my placenta ruptured and pulled loose from the uterus ) causing me to go into labour at 35.5 weeks! Since then I have felt happy and at ease that next time It would all be planned ( as I am a person that likes my life to be planned )! And that it would be easier to have a booked ceserean without having to go through the labour and drugs as well! I also had quite a speedy recovery I think and by the following day was walking upright and wasn't that painful and long to recover! Now my doctor is asking what I would prefer to do...... I was happy with the thought and plan for the second one.... now I have to consider natural again.... maybe I'm just scared of it??? Help... has anyone preferred a ceserean?

Just because you have a vaginal delivery doesn't mean you have to have drugs. In fact, they're usually less complicated if you don't. I don't really understand this statement because C-sections give you far more drugs than any natural delivery. I think it's hard to say you prefer one over the other if you haven't had a vaginal delivery. A VD has far less healing time than a CS, something you may want to consider that you will have 2 children now, not 1 to care for, making it more difficult. A smooth recovery the first time doesn't guarantee the same the second. You may not get to plan your kids birthdate if you have a VD, but it's a wonderful surprise not knowing too. The last couple weeks are pretty exciting. You do have the option either way because of your c-section history. I would just advise not to totally throw out the idea of a vaginal delivery.

I have had 2 c-sections. My first was because my daughter was breach and my second with my son was elective, although the hospital I chose to deliver at does not do v-bacs so I didn't have to choose.. Although, with my son I actually went into labour the day before my scheduled c-section and was in labour for about 18hours with little progress. With both my c-sections I was very happy - very minimal pain and able to get up the next day and care for my baby who arrived safe and sound..

I think it is definitely personal choice as long as you and your baby are safe and healthy. If I was to have another baby I would prefer to have another c-section but I fully support those who would have a natural birth -whichever option as long as the baby and mother are safe!

It's up to you and what you feel is safest for you and your baby if you're worried about how things will go by all means book a c section. I personally because I had complication with my first the doctor and I left it until a few weeks before I was due to make a final decision and it was in the interest of my baby and I for me to have a c section. It depends on what risks are involved. I can't say I preffered a c section I would have liked to have a natural but it was too risky for me.
