My daughter had one at 6 wks old. It was harder on me then her. They'll put the dye or charcoal stuff in her bottle & then do the test, It takes less then a 1/2 hr. You 'll feel better after it's done when you finally get the results! Good luck!

My daughter had to have one though not at such a young age. I was very worried before the procedure but afterward realized there really was no need for all the worry. Things were fine and it was very helpful in giving us a good piece of mind knowing we had a good diagnosis. She has acid reflux but we were able to rule out more severe things. Also my granddaughter had the procedure done at about the same age as your daughter. She does have a hernia and we were able to get a better picture of what was going on. She had a minor surgery and the doctor taught us how to look for foods that would not affect her negatively. Good luck with your daughter and I know it will do no good to tell u not to worry because that is your job as a mom, but know that this is the best option for your child. Stay strong Mom and good luck!!

My daughter has had a few, along with esophageal biopsies. The ones she was awake for went really well and easy. The EGD she was sedated, and since they did a lot more with it along with the biopsies she was in pain a while after. Results are very fast (you can actually watch yourself, and see obvious problems).

My son had to have an upper gi at 7 months old. It was the best thing we could have done. He was sick all the time throwing up and crying. They found the problem and gave him medicine and all was good. Try not to worry to much.
