My son is 10 months and everytime I get my period since Ive had him its so heavy and I still have blood clots like after I had him just not that extreme

I have pcos so Ive never really had a period in the past few years but when I did or befoe that it was really light and only for 3 days and now it last atleast a week and I have clots is it normal or should I talk to my doctor?

I know birth control is supposed to help regulate that kind of stuff but I dont want to be on anything like that because I was never supposed to be able to have children to begin with so I dont want to take the chance of preventing it in the future

so has anyone else had the same thing going on?

I'm having the same issue, a had my child over a year ago but for the past five months I have been having VERY different periods than I have ever experienced, It's VERY heavy red blood and lots of blood clots pretty big too, each month this lasts about 4-6 days. Anyone eles experience this? should I see the doctor?

I had a baby 3 years ago, my period since then have been short and light. I have my period a week ago, it lasted two days and that was that. Now, i have been bleeding agein except thia time it is bright red. It has been bridht red and heavy for the past 2 days. I am not sure what to do or if this is normal. Like I said it's bright red...

I have my period more often and more heavy than I did before I had my sons. I was put on birth control to regulate it, but I have stopped for now as I have fertility problems as well and want to start treatment soon for another child. I have been seeing a gynecologist and he said there is nothing showing up on the ultrasounds that could be causing this. On the other hand, I don't have cramps with my periods like I did before I got pregnant.

I think they definitely change, at least for a while. My youngest is now 3 years old. After having each of mine, I did not have a period while I breastfed them (about 6-8 months) and when it returned, it was light. I am now returning to my 'normal' periods.

I also had very regular periods before I got pregnant and gave birth to my twins. The twins are now 2 yrs old & my periods have never been the same. They are random (even while on the BC pill) & vary w/ the flow...very frusturating especially because for the first several months I keep thinking I was pregnant again & spent a fortune on pregnancy test!!!

I had very regular periods before having my son. Now they're very random and a lot shorter than normal.

Everyone's uterus reacts differently to pregnancy and birth.

I went without a period for 12 months after coming off the pill for 15 years. When my periods did return they were quite light until my daughter was born and now I have a very heavy period with clots for three days and then a light period for 2 days. I have been to my GP and she reccomended an IUD coil as this will help with the period flow and regulate the cycle. I am just a bit reluctant to have contraception after asking my husband to have the snip, which he did before our daughter was born.

Yes. After the initial post delivery bleeding, I then had a full 1 week period every other week for a little over 3 motnhs, and then no period for 3 months, and now I have constant light bleeding. It sucks.

YES, I was just thinking this today, my daughter is 7 months and this is my first "real" period, like you I didn't have many periods before I was pregnant because of a thyroid condition and when I did it was for 2 days and it was very light. But this one is horrible, heavy, blood clots and PAINFUL! I dont know if it's normal, I am going to ask my Dr next week, I hope it doesnt stay like this, that's for sure.

I've had the opposite I have PCOS too but before I got pregnant my period was really heavy and painful - now my periods are really light and I have no pain. Before my periods ranged from 2 weeks to 10 weeks apart and I never knew where I stood since having my son they seem to have settled at a 5 week gap, although sometimes I have a show bleed then nothing for another week (which is driving me nutty).

I was on the pill for 5 years (from age 16 to 21 when I married) and I think they added to my fertility issues (or at the very least masked them when I could have been doing something about them), and as we was told we couldn't have children I would never use a contraceptive that involves hormones again as I want to have another child (we are not using contraceptives as I don't want to miss the opportunity to have another child).
