My daughter is 5 months and 1 week...she has always hated tummy time but now she can tolerate at least 5 minutes of tummy time every once in a while. She has yet to roll over!! Any suggestions on what to do? I'm kind of worried that she just doesn't get it.

she will in her own time, i was told with my litttle boy that he doesnt need to be on his tummy for tummy time, he could be on my shoulder or sat on my lap, as long as she can hold her head up then she will be fine.

Lay her on her tummy in front of a mirror. My daughter use to freak out and puke during tummy time even when I would get down on the floor with her until I started with the mirror. She loves it now and has deep and meaningful chats with the baby in the mirror and doesn't even realize she's on her tummy, She rolls over but just on one side and has now started to wiggle herself backwards. It's hilarious.

My son hated tummy time until he was around 8 1/2 months old. He rolled over once at 4 months, and then not again until his was 8 months and now, all he does is roll around in his crib when he should be sleeping...that and try to crawl out (which he didn't start doing until his was 9 months)! Giver her time...there's no right or wrong time for her to enjoy it, and she may never like it. She will learn to walk and crawl and roll in her own time and her own fashion. I wouldn't worry, and if you do think there is something wrong (like she isn't hitting any of her milestones) I would talk to your doctor.

5 mins of tummy time a couple of times a day is ok and just try and build her up. She doesn't like it cos it's hard. As she gets stronger she'll find it easier and won't mind it.
I'd start her off at 5 mins twice a day for a week, then move to 7 mins twice a day for week, then 10 mins twice a day for week. Before you know it she'll be fine and trying to move towards things.
My daughter didn't like tummy time either, she'd get frustrated and cry after about 5 mins but I'd lie down in front of her with her favourite toys and play peep po with her, get her attention and try to make her laugh. Of course timing has to be right too. It's no good doing it when she's tired or with a full belly.

Most babies hate it..just keep at it because tummy time is important..maybe u can do it a few times a day but not for too long...5 minutes could be too long for a baby...say every 5 minutes put her on her tummy for a minute...what also works is gettign down to her level and encourage her to look at u..place her favourite toy or mirror infront of her, jingle some toys which will encourage her to look up..u can do this also if u want to encourage them to crawl later on....

I wouldn't worry to much about it. I worried about the same thing and before I knew it my daughter, now 11 months, was rolling all over. Then I began to worry she would never crawl and sure enough she did that too. Just do the tummy time that you can and go from there. If you become truly concerned about it, mention it to your doctor.
