Help for a mom with a thin boy who is ready for

I need some help from all the mom's out there with very thin little boy's. Caden is about ready to go into regular underwear and the smallest I've seen is 2/3T. At 27 months he still fits in a 12 month waist for pants, 2T will certainly fall off him. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

my son is 13months an still has a 6-9 month waist ant we got him some training pants (like underwear with a bit of extra padding in the private area and still look like underwear) and they are a 2t but fit him pretty well so maybe you can try that they are made by gerber and i got them at walmart in the baby section with the packs of onsies!

hope it helps

We had the same problem.even gerber 18 moth undes were huge. For cloth training pants try fashionably green baby!! We ordered her AI2 pull ups in a small for our 17lb 18 mo old........she wore them for 10 months before she finally figured out they weren't really big girl for undies look up mothergoosedesigns........she custom makes undies.....expensive, but i figure with the money we saved with cloth diapers and cloth pullups, we could swing it!

My son is 4 1/2, and only weighs 30lbs. He can still wear pants for 18 months. I found that not all underwear is the same. Sometimes they say 2 and they seem huge; sometimes they say 2 and they fit him perfectly. It's kind of a trial and error type process, you'll have to figure out which ones aren't really as big as the others. Worse come to worse, you can always put a stitch or two in the sides of underwear that's a bit too big!

We would have had the same problem if our son had potty trained before his 3rd birthday. Congrats on that accomplishment!

There are gerber cotton training pants that I used for both of my kids when they were potty training. Pretty sure they are available in an 18 month size. They're not as cool as regular big kid underwear- but they look like briefs- just a little extra padding. My 3 yo dd still chooses to put them on sometimes when she finds them in her drawer. Some have pictures of baseballs, or are striped blue.

You can buy the small undies and take a tuck (pull the elastic together to fit him, then take a few stitches in them).

We were all VERY thin, and I understand your grief. At 15 I was 70 lbs and 4'10". Had to wear little girls clothes to high school. Very humiliating!

God bless, honey!

Ditto the below. FYI, Levi and several other brands have jeans with adjustable elastic and buttons, which is a Godsend! Also, have you gone online to look for underwear? If you have to buy French online, at least they will stay on him. Good luck, sweetie!

Ditto on Nicole add a few seams you can easily rip out. I have tiny waisted one and I been doing this for 8 years.

I have that same issue, My little one is 4 anda half and still wearing the 2t/3t underwear. When he first strted I washed them about 3-4 times and dried themon high heat and they shrank some. Also for some of them I put them on him and pulled the back together in two places and pinned them. Then I took them off and sewed them smaller. As he has gotten bigger I have been able to take some of the stitches out.

I hope this helps and good luck!!

My son is 2 and a half, and a really tiny little fella, we had the same problem with underwear, lots of his clothes are still 12 months.

I don't know where you are, but here in the UK I found that "pumpkin patch" and "boots" underpants were quite small, especially the style with a thick elastic waist band. Although to begin with even these were a little baggy!

I was told by a friend that french baby clothes tend to come up small, so when another friend of mine went for a couple of days to Paris I asked her to get Rowan some underwear, and sure enough they were perfect!

If you're in the US obviously you can't just hop across the channel to France, but maybe you could try online?
