HELP! I'm pregnant and I don't want to quit my job or school!

I'm 27, happily married for 4 years, and my husband and I both have great jobs. We are financially stable. A baby was in our dreams for "someday". I just found out that I am indeed pregnant. However, we both recently decided to go back to school and have a LONG way to go. I do NOT want to quit school, or my job. (unfortunately, I am a self employed sub contractor. I do professional cleaning and organizing.) I'm trying to be realistic here. I know NOTHING about pregnancy or babies.

You don't have to quit. It just depends on how things go. I went back to work when my oldest was 6 weeks old, and I was also studying part time at University. I took a 6 month break from Uni studies just to get into the swing of things, then continued with my studies. However, I did have a good baby - he slept well, fed well - it was an all round textbook pregnancy, labour, birth and baby. This doesn't happen for everyone. With my second, I had a difficult pregnancy, a child born so small she remained in the SCN for 10 days, I ended up with PPD, and it was much more difficult, so I quit my job (I had finished studying by that point).

I guess what I am saying is that you don't have to plan to give up anything, but just be mentally prepared for the fact that it may or may not work out for you. It is one of those things that you just "play by ear".
