Help ... My Baby Can't Flip Himself Back Over So He Wakes Up During The Night

Hi Mommies,

So my little one who is 6 months old sleeps on his belly (yes, I know ... it's back to sleep but he likes to sleep on his belly) and now flips himself over to his back and can't fall back to sleep. We were doing so well with sleeping through the night and now I don't know what to do ... I have to either go in there and flip him back over and hope that he goes back to sleep or let him stay on his back and have him cry.

Please share your suggestions with me. My husband and I just like all of you need our sleep. Ahhh ... I'm not so much fun when I don't sleep. I know this too shall pass but any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.

We used a sleep positioner. It kept my son on his side. He could roll one way or another and be resting on his belly or back but not fully on either one.

I loved that thing. I swear by it for anyone whose kid flips but can't flip back, lol.

I think he's just practicing a new skill - flipping over! Hopefully it will pass in a few days.

My son had a phase when he was learning to crawl that he would flop onto his face and crawl in his sleep. He'd be crying because he was so tired and wanted to sleep, but he also wanted to practice! That lasted about a week. It was funny but really annoying. We soothed him in the rocking chair, and then when we put him back in his crib, we sort of pinned his arms down with a tight blanket - somewhat like swaddling. It helped a bit, if he was relaxed.
