Help! Public vs. Private kindergarten

We are trying to make a tough decision... should we send our 5 y/o high functioning son to private school or utilize his IEP in public school for kindergarten??? He's currently in a typical private pre-k and doing well. He gets speech at school but he also gets private speech and OT outside of school. My biggest concern about public school is class size which could go up to 23, which I think is high for kindergarten. I'm really worried he will get lost in the shuffle. The private school knows he has aspergers and currently has a few aspergers students attending and thriving. The class size is 16 max. My son loved it there during the observation. He really enjoyed it, had fun with the kids and loved that it was quiet. There are about 250 kids total there so he could get the one-on-one attention he needs. On the flip side my husband is worried about walking away from his IEP which he would continue to get speech and 45 minutes of social skills. So we are really struggling with this decision. We know we will have to take school one year at a time. Our son has a love for learning and we just want to continue to foster that. I'm just curious if anyone else has been in this position. Ultimately, we know our child best and have to make the best decision possible for him, but I would love to hear your feedback.

Honestly I would pick the private JUST because of the one on one. 16 students is not a lot, it's quite and he will still thrive, maybe even better. Just my opinion based on that fact alone.
