HELP! Toddler won't stay in bed for nap

We just changed my almost 3 year olds crib into a toddler bed because he recently started climbing out of his crib. He stays in it perfectly at bedtime but won't for naptime. BTW he shares a room with his 18 month old brother! Yesterday I found him in his brother's crib and today he was running around their room, laughing and having a ball. Needless to say, neither one got a nap today or yesterday. I didn't change their naptime routine at all and since he goes to bed at night just fine with the same bedtime routine, I am at a loss. Please help!

Most children will stop napping sometime between the ages of 3 and 5. He may still need a nap, but sleep may not come quite as easy as it did a few months ago. I would definitely encourage you to split the two up for naptimes and maybe try laying down with him in your bed until he falls asleep.

Try a quite time for the older one and a nap time still for the younger one. I found that My youngest stopped taking naps around 2-3 at home but would still take them at daycare. My oldest took them until he was 4. I think it depends on the child and how they are feeling. For my youngest I sat with him and read a book or watched his favorite movie so he had some down time. Or I made him lay down with me in bed for a while and just cuddle. What ever the thing was I made sure it was quite and relaxing for the both of us. Yes it took away from some of my chore time/ me time but it was what I had to do at that point. Gook luck trying to get in some more naps, for the both of them.
