Home Pregnancy Test Accuracy

Alexandra - posted on 08/04/2010 ( 3 moms have responded )

I took a pregnancy test today and it said yes I am pregnant. I took it this afternoon... I just don't want it to be a false positive. I am late on my period and not on the pill anymore.

I asked a doctor once, when I took a home pregnancy test for my first pregnancy and it was pos, how accurate they are. He told me that they are 99% positive. The only way to know for 110% sure would be to see the doc and get a blood test. If you are, congrates. Also a huge congrates to Samantha... as a mum that wasn't supposed to have kids, sometimes the best things are the biggest suprise

Home pregnancy test are just as active as the ones that the doctors use. I had several negitives one time and i called the dr and said i was 3 weeks late and was having the same symptoms as with my 1st pregnancy. They told me that the over the counter tests are the same as the ones they use there. that if i didnt start within the next few weeks to come in and they would give me a hormone shot to help it get started again. & The only test they do diff that is more accurate is a blood test. Also, every health department i have ever been to uses the exact same tests as the ones you get at the dollar tree or any other dollar store that sales the $1 tests. hope this helps!!!
