My 20 month old baby girl won't stop coughing. She's been taking Amoclan antibiotic; Demazin Syrup and Napamol Syrup for throat infection and high temp. Her temp. is normal now however she wont stop coughing. Anyone have a home remedy that might help?

Rub vicks on the bottom of her feet, then cover with heavy socks (if she doesn't have any heavy ones, use two pairs). Sounds strange, but works great! Hope she feels better soon!!!

onion works goon my Mom used to boil an onion in honey though I'm not sure what the age recommendation for honey is it is also nice cause it tastes good so you don't have to worry about them throwing it up or forcing it down

Is it a barking cough like croup? This sounds gross but onion juice works ... you squeeze an onion and add a little bit of sugar and I use a syringe depending on the size and age of your child I would give 1/4 tsp for a 6 month old and then up to a tsp for older children. They may throw it up but if you do it while they are sleeping put them to bed and wake them up an hour later give it to them... The onion juice helps loosen up the cough and the pulp in the onion helps clear up the phlegm and whatnot in the throat and it starts to clear it up... It is an old home remedy.. it is gross and really works my mom gave it to my sister and myself when we were little especially my sister she had it really bad... my oldest son got it about the same age as your child and I gave him onion juice and he always got better and just recently my 5 month old had it and I gave him it also guaranteed I did get thrown up on but I at least got some down him and the cough did loosen up so that he could breath better.... The one thing to not do if you give them onion juice is they can not have anything to drink after because it will just wash it down and will be useless.. that is why it is smart to wake them up and give it to them and they will go right back to bed... Good Luck!!

I don't know if this will help, but when my kids have the flu I give them a nice warm bath and then rub them out ( back / chest and under their feet and then put socks on to keep her feet warm) with body & chest rub called "Puma Balm". It is a vapour rub. I don't know if it will be available in your country but it contains camphor, eucalyptus, menthol, clove oil. I don't know why that works - it is some "old wives" advice that just seems to work ???? Then also you a humidifier in the child's room - I think you can rent one from the pharmacy if you don't have. Ask the pharmacist about drops to add to the water to sooth coughs. Don't give her too much milk rather a bit of sugar water / tea - the mucus will worsen. Try and keep her body temp. consistant so her body uses no extra energy trying to regulate body temp.
OK that is my 5 cents, that works for us. I don't know if it will work for you. Good Luck to you and your poor baby girl.

My daughter has had croup for two weeks now and her doctor said not to give her anything BUT she did say to use a cool mist humidifier and that does work.
