Home Schooling yes or no?

My son is highly emotional, he has trouble learning at school, what is your opinion on Home Schooling? He is in grade 5 at school and most probably completes school work of a grade 3 child. He has a memory disorder, many things fall out of the long term memory basket. He gets very frustrated when trying to work things out. Yet hands on he is a wizz.... Although he gets a fair bit of special needs help at school, I think that I could achieve more at home and relieve some of his day to day stress. What do you think??

He is best to stay at school and you give him extra help at home for an hour a night. He has to face the outside world and learn to deal with emotional situations. High school is a very stressful place and he needs to learn how to deflect attention and survive! The best way to do this is to get him into non confrontational groups like the scouts. The lads are taught to act as a group and support others that are not so well adept. My son was slow at school and he joined the sea scouts. He came out of his shell and blossomed. This is not a skill you can learn at home and it is one that will keep him in good stead to manage school situations.

Work on the academic side at home to help him catch up, but keep him in school.
