Hotel Sleeping Arrangements for son and daughter

[deleted account] ( 7 moms have responded )

I am a mother of two kids, a 9 year-old boy and a 5 year-old girl. I am also married (to their dad). My question in, when we go on vacation and stay in a hotel, we will have to sleep together in a room with 2 double/queen beds. How does everyone else handle the sleeping arrangements? Right now it will be kids in one bed and parents in the other. But I was wondering what to do when they get older. Is it okay for both the boy and girl to sleep together, or should we split it up and have girls in one bed and boys in the other? When my son is older, I have a feeling he will be just as tall as his dad (6'2) and would have these two big guys sharing a bed. I would just like some thoughts/ideas and would like to know what other families of 4 have done.

Personally they are siblings why will it ever be an issue?? I don't know I just don't get what the problem is. I have three boys 14, 12 & 5. However, even if I had mixed I would allow whomever to sleep with whomever as long as everyone together got the best rest possible.

I think your kids will voice their opinions by then. If they don't want to share a bed, I'm sure other sleeping arrangements can be made.

I would bring sleeping bags or an extra blanket as I do that now that way they share a bed but have their own blankets, As yours get older they will let you know what they want, a bed or the floor kinda thing.

Well, once the kids get older, you can just arrange for a cot to be brought in and let them decide. If they are comfortable and not embarrassed (let's face it, as boys get older, things happen to their body that they can't control and girls tend to want more space and provancy * totally spelt wrong, I have prego brain) and they may want to sleep by themselves or you could just get in the habit now of puting one in a pull away cot and the other in the bed. Some hotels also will have a pull out couch. As for right now, I wouldn't worry about it.

For now it's not an issue. As they get older, you might consider a larger suite style room with a fold-out couch or roll-away bed. OR...if you really can find a great deal on hotel rooms, consider adjoining rooms for a 'kid's room'. My parents did that a lot, but we were 3 kids, and my parents are larger sized people and wanted their own bed.

You can do the girls in one and boys in another like you said, or a lot of times, hotels have roll away beds upon request.

Well I have 2 girls, but for your situation as they get older I would have you sleep with your daughter and your son sleep with your husband.

I really see no problem now.
