How can I get my 1 yr old to stop putting everything inside his mouth?

Since my now 1 yr old was about 4 months he started to put things inside his mouth. I thought it was a stage he was going through due to the teething, but now at 1 yrs old and having 8 teeth he is still putting everything he finds in his mouth. From pennies to hangers, toys and picture frames, remote, paper everything. What should I do?

This has to be your fist child because the 1 year old is doing what a 1 year old is suppose to at this age. Everything goes to the mouth. The only thing that you can do is move things out of his reach so he won't put it in his mouth. Safety is the best protocol for him now. Child proof your house and pray. It's only going to get worse. This is just the beginning. Good luck girl. Welcome to motherhood and it;s here to stay.

Your son doesn't need to stop putting things in his mouth, you just need to babyproof. Babies learn with all of their senses. It's actually a good thing that you have such a curious child!

This is totally normal, and yes it's a stage he's going through. This is just what babies do - make sure he can't get his hands on anything that would cause harm to him (or that he could damage), and then just let him get on with it. It's a good time to give him food that he hasn't tried before - everything goes in the mouth anyway! Enjoy your inquisitive child, and keep him safe.
