Help! My 16 year old daughter's room is a disaster.. I strongly believe in choosing your battles, but her room is disgusting. There are dishes and cups with mold, food on the floor, stains, clothes EVERYWERE- you cant even see the floor. She spends all her time in there on her bed on the computer and we never see her so it obviously doesnt bother her very much... If I make a huge deal about it she will clean it, but usually after much yelling and tears...How can I get her to clean it and KEEP it clean?!

I was about to say exactly the same as Firebird. We have a rule in our house - no food in any rooms other than the kitchen and family room. Period. That would solve the food on the floor, dishes and stains.

I am assuming you are not doing her washing unless it reaches the laundry. But stop buying her clothes until she picks up the ones she has.

Who pays for the internet? Password it, and only allow her to have the password when her room is tidy ;)

And close the door. Does it really matter if it is messy if you aren't the one who has to live in it?

All I know is where you can start. Stop allowing her to take any food or dishes into her room, since she can't be bothered to dispose of the waste properly.
