How can I get my toddler to respect me???

My daughter is 16 months old. She is a really great baby but sometimes she is just so defiant with me and i dont know what to do. When im trying to feed her she knocks my hand away or throws her food on the floor. I do let her feed herself but sometimes i have to feed her myself because she just plays with her food and i worry that shes not eating enough. If her father feeds her all he has to say is " Eat your food" and she eats every last thing on her plate but with me its the total opposite and its so frustrating. another example is when were driving in the car, if her dad is in the car she doesnt make a peep but if its just me driving alone she always throws a fit. I know that i am the more lenient parent but i dont let her get away with things and i dont give in to her when she misbehaves so i dont understand why she acts this way with me. I need advice on how i can get my daughter to respect me because i worry about how she will act with me as she gets older. sometimes i raise my voice and then i feel so guilty after but i dont know what else to do sometimes ( not that yelling works). Help me moms!
