My 8 months old baby girl keeps waking through the night screaming and crying. She's goes to bed at 7pm each night and has no problems getting off to sleep. when she does wake up it seems impossible to get her to soon as me or my partner put her back in the cot she cries. Any tips how to settle her??? this has only been happening the past few nights, before this she had no problems sleeping through or getting back to sleep herself. thanks

Sounds like she might have some teeth coming in. My daughter did this at about 7 or 8 months, nothing helped ease her discomfort. The good news is as soon as the teeth came through she went back to sleeping through the night.

It's actually REALLY common for babies that age to start waking through the night, even though they didn't before. There are a multitude of possible reasons. It could be separation anxiety, it could be an environmental change (has the weather changed, and maybe your baby is too warm or too cold at night?) Has she recently started crawling, or is close to it? If your baby has learned a new motor skill, she may want to try it out every chance she gets — even in the middle of the night. As well, sleep may be disrupted in the few weeks before a major developmental leap, such as walking.

With my son, we'd rock him for a bit until he was sleepy enough to put back in his crib. You want to be careful, though, not to get her too used to you doing something that you might not be prepared to do every single night for the foreseeable future. :)
