How can i teach my 3 1/2 month old Daughter how to sit up & crawl ?

My Daughter has been holding her head up by herself ever since she was 2 months. When she is sitting up (with me supporting her) she leans forward and grabs things. When I put her on her stomach she lifts up really high and she rolls over to her sideor her back . I mean she's doing everything so fast . Shouldn't that be a sign she's ready to sit up by herself?

Please don't push her. Enjoy her babyhood, because it really does fly by.

You can't 'teach' a child these milestones. Nor should you want to. 3.5mths is VERY little. If you force her into positions she is not ready for, you can actually do her damage. Just let her lead you. She may end up meeting these milestones early, or she may not. There is a wide range of normal with these things.

My daughter was sitting independently at 4.5mths, army crawl at 6mths but didn't hands and knees crawl til 8mths (when she was already pulling up and cruising). I thought she was going to skip it altogether. Then she walked at 10mths.

WOW! Um...I think it is time for you to pick up a book about typical mile stone marks. No, this does not mean she is ready to crawl, or eat solid foods. She sounds like she is strong, and you can HELP her sit up, but she is not ready to do so on her own. Typically, babies can sit up on their own around 5 months. Sometimes not even then. 6 months is around when they should be ready for solids, and this usually means they can sit up in a highchair. Crawling, well, it can happen early, but 3 1/2 months is really too soon. Heck, i have heard of kids WALKING at 9 months, but just be patient and let her do things on her own time frame.

wow she is early! strong little girl!
i dont think there is much you can do to help her along. just let her keep going at her own speed. and the way she seems to be going she will figure it out in no time.

I miss the immobile phase...when you could put them down and know they would be RIGHT THERE when you came back. :P

Babies usually have to be able to sit well first before they can crawl (it has to do with back strength). 3.5 mths is REALLY early, but all mine were sitting at 5 mths and crawling between 5-6mths. You can 'help' them by helping them sit supported and also put your hands at their feet and when they kick your hands they will move forward. This sort of helps them realize cause and effect. Have fun!

There's one pretty much foolproof way: wait a few more months ;)

Babies develop at their own pace -- there's a wide range of normal. She will sit up when she's ready, and then she'll crawl when she's ready to do that. There's nothing you can do to hurry up that process, and short of sticking her in a playpen and never letting her out, there's nothing much you can do to slow it down, either.

My son is also 3 1/2 mnths n does exactly the same. N I started feeding him cerel already n he loces it. I encourage him to start crawling wen ever his oon his tummy. Not all babies are the same tho n I learnt that coz I'm older son is 6 n he was slow gowing through his milestones n wit my 2nd 1 he started lifting his head up at birth. Children are more advanced each year that they are born

Babies usually crawl between 5-8 months. Sitting up usually depends on the baby.

Let her continue to roll on her belly, she must get her spine n neck strong. Its all about milestones give time time no rush. Surprised u havent enrolled her into elementry school j/k . Clearly ur first child. I was anxious too the first year felt like he would nt growe fast enough..when I had my 2nd I embraced it knowing im very liltime he would no longer be that lil 7lb naby but atoddler n now hes 5

My son was rolling over at 4 months, crawling at 5 months and pulling himself up to stand at 7 months. Every child is different. Just enjoy whatever stage they are in.

Just slow down! She is only 3.5 months. Both of my kids sat between 5-6 months and crawled between 7-9 months and walked by their first birthdays. ON THEIR OWN TIME. Most babies can sit up assisted early and learn to move their heads and head control early. Just let her be a baby.

She's 3.5 months! My son started 'army crawling' at 5 months (hands and knees at 6) and that's pretty early. I forget exactly when he was sitting up, but I think it was around 5 months as well. He took his first step at 9 months. He was fairly early in physical development cuz he has 2 big sisters to try and keep up w/... ;)

She will develop at her own pace.... whatever that may be.

My first child skipped crawling and went straight to walking at around 10-11 months. My second child didn't crawl, but pulled himself across the floor like he was a wounded soldier at around 7-8 months and also walked at around 11 months. Every child is different, but it seems to early to want these things to happen at 3.5 months. She will do it when she is ready.

The sign of when shes ready to sit up by herself, is WHEN she sits up by herself. Please dont rush your child to do anything they are not ready to do yet. Each child does things when they are ready, though there are some children who do things early, most do not. This is why we have avg age for mile stones.

My first child was crawling by 4-5 months and walking on her own by 7-8 months. This is NOT normal.

My second child was normal, crawling around 9 months and walking after his 1st birthday. This is NORMAL.

Enjoy her at this age. There isn't much we can do as parents to "speed" up how fast our babies do things. All too soon she will be graduating and you'll wonder where your little baby has gone.

Enjoy the little things that she learns each day because this time is such a short time and you can't get it back.

Oh, by the way, when my daighter was born, she would actually stand up on my lap, put her legs out straight, and be able to support herself. The pediatrician was shocked (I held onto her of course) but she STILL didn't walk until later on. She was also rolling onto her stomach before she was even a month....remembering back, my in laws were visiting celebrating her i think she was 2-3 weeks old. Tummy time, she was also doing about the same as your daughter with pushing up and lifting her head.

Your daughter sounds like she is doing great, just keep up the good work.

My daughter started crawling I think around 10 months, and cruising around 14 months, and completely walking on her own between 15-16 months.
