I am finding it difficult to take steps towards getting my 16 month old into a good solid bed time routine. I just know hes going to sob and my otherhalf will let him off with it. Does anybody have any advice for me?

consistancy is always a plus. set a time you want to put your baby to bed. about and hour before that time do a warm bath. try using the bedtime lotion after a bath. it smells good and calms them down amazingly. then after bathtime find a good way to wind them down and keep them calm for a little while before bed. like story time or cuddling up in a rocking chair with you while they have some milk to fill up the tummy before bed. but however you go about it, you need to make sure to do it everynight. then after a week or so they will know the routine and it wont be a fuss. my daughter is 5 1/2 months old and already has a 9 o'clock bedtime, which for the most time is self imposed, cuz she is lazy and totally worn out by 9. lol

Definitely stick to routine; same hour every night. Get the bathing done before dinner; feed him/her & nothing with sugar; read a story. If possible put him/her in a stroller in the afternoon & go for a walk in a mall or on your street & let them get over stimulated with the sites & sounds & then do their bath & meal & few hours later story & bed. : )

i just wanted to ask what is a routine?? I wish you luck because mine HAHAHA it is a joke when bedtime rolls around...they play the I'm thirsty, I got to tell you something, I have to go potty game and they are 4 & 7...Dinner is around 630/7, showers are while dinner is cooking, then myself or thier daddy will read a book or they will have quiet time till 9...11 rolls around and they are still up...soooo on that note GOOD LUCK MOMMA, I hope it works for you :)

Hi Gemma, the best thing 4 bedtime is routine. Same time everynight settle him down. Bath, milk bedtime story. Lay him down say goodnight. As long as he's fed watered an clean he will be fine to b left. He may get upset, but he will soon settle. I say this only because i wish i had stuck 2 it. give it a go x
