How do I stop my child from being bullied?

My daughter takes the bus home from school because I don't have a car at the moment. She has been complaining of a 14 year old boy that also rides the bus most days and makes lude comments to her and calls her names. Since this boy does not go to her school, there is little that can be done to stop this bullying.

We live in a small town and there is not an alternate bus route. She has complained to the driver who has put the boy off the bus a few times. He will generally stop harassing her for awhile and then start back up. Yesterday, she came home crying and said that he had crossed the line into physically touching her and pinched her bottom when she was getting off the bus.

Her older brother is so angry and ready to take matters into his own hands with this boy. I work during the day and can't get off to deal with this situation myself. I feel so helpless. Can I let my older son "handle this situation" and just look the other way so to speak?

Not unless you want your son to go to jail. You may need to take some time off to ride the bus with her and see what is going on. Talk with the bus driver. Then call his superiors if this continues. Call the cops for harassment if need be.
