How much cereal should i give my 4 1/2 month old baby?

About two weeks ago my baby's doctor told me to start him on 1 teaspoon of cereal for every ounce because he was spitting up quite a bit. I only do 3 teaspoons for 6 ounces and he seems to be keeping his formula in.

I'm not sure if I should do 6 teaspoons for 6 ounces???

Also he told me to start with a couple of teaspoons of cereal during the day and also baby food.

I'm not sure how many times I should feed him just cereal during the day and baby food.

He is still in the process of learning how to not spit up the cereal and baby food.

He is still waking up during the night twice and don't know what to do.

His last feeding of the day is at 7:00 or 7:30 and then he goes to sleep until around 12:00 or 12:30 and then around 4:00 or 4:30. I try to keep him awake the latest possible but he is very fussy.

Would appreciate some advice!!!!

I wouldn't do more than the 3 teaspoons for 6 ounces. Well, technically I wouldn't even do that, but since it's doctor recommended... I'm not touching that one. That is more than enough solids for a baby of that age and I would not be adding anymore at all until at least 6 months. Formula or breast milk are supposed to be the bulk of their diet til a year.

Is this in the bottle that you are feeding him? I'm assuming so, but checking. If you are spoon feeding him and he's spitting it out... That is him telling you that he is not developmentally ready for it.

His sleeping sounds just about perfect for his age.
