how much sleep does a 3 yr old need? Mine sleeps in the afternoon from 2 to bout 5 in the afternoon. And at 22:30 at night. But i need t wake him up by minimum 6:45/7:00 to get him ready for school... is this ok?

Average sleep for a 3 year old is about 10.5 hours at night and 1.5 nap. My guess is that he needs more sleep at night and that way will nap for shorter amounts during the day. If you want to make adjustments to his bedtime I would start by moving it back in 15 minute increments every day, The nap-time should get shorter, although you can wake him up after 1.5 hours if you want to. If you do this make sure you wake him after 45 minute increments as this is a babies sleep cycle, He will start to nap less and less as he nears 4, but then his night time sleep will need to be longer so he will need to be in bed earlier again.

I wouldn't advise completely skipping naps as this tends to make children over tired and can cause less sleep in the long run.

They recommend kids 1-3 years old get 12-14 hours a day that includes a nap that's 1-3 hours long. My son is almost 2 years old he sleeps 12 hours at night and sometimes takes an hour nap but is growing out of nap time already. If you want him going to bed earlier either skip the nap or make it earlier in the day for less time.

Geez, my daughter gave up naps at 2. That IS a lot of sleep. I would cut out the nap. Usually my 3 year old sleep from 7-about 8.
