How much stage 1 food should my 6 months be eating?

My son just turned 6 months last week and we are introducing stage 1 solids and EVERYTHING/EVERYONE is saying feed him until he turns away and that means he's full. Well, he doesn't do that kind of response and will eat until the jar is gone. Is there a min/max that a 6 month, 19 lb boy should be within?

That sounds great that your baby loves his baby food. My son's doctor explained that the baby food jars are designed according to how much the child typically eats, you will note that the size of the baby food container will increase as you go from 1st foods to 2nd foods, to 3rd foods. You will want to make sure your baby is still drinking a lot of formula/breast milk as well. My friend's baby also loved baby food but she stopped drinking as much and it is important for the baby to still drink a lot of formula/ breast milk.

I wrote more information about how much a baby should eat at the following location: Also, don't hesitate to contact your baby's doctor if you have any questions or concerns.

Remember to enjoy meal time with your baby and don't forget the camera. :)

the important thing to remember is that at this age, purees should not replace, or interfere with how much breastmilk or formula your little one drinks, "solids" are mostly for experimentation. a regular feeding of breastmilk or formula should be offered before offering purees. as the babies appetite grows, you can start offering larger amounts of purees.

for the first couple weeks, a bit of cereal and one stage 1 jar is enough in a day.

Sorry if my msg was confusing... I'm helping my hubby give Zayne a bath right now. LOL! Zayne will eat until he barfs. I need to know when to cut him off. There are charts with how much formula is needed but nothing about solids...

He will turn away when he is full. Maybe try giving him a food/vegetable at the same time also it wouldnt hurt to try a sippy cup while he eats
