how often should a 7 month old eat

Joanna - posted on 06/24/2009

My daughter is 8 1/2 months and she has a 4 oz bottle every 3 hours plus a stage 2 fruit for breakfast (her 8am feeding) and then stage 2 veggies for lunch (11am) and dinner (5pm). She also snacks on those gerber puffs when I'm eating my lunch and dinner just so she gets used to sitting at the table and eating together. But again, all depends on the child. If I gave Hailey a 7 oz bottle, 3 hours later she'd cry for more. so we just kept it at 4oz so she wouldn't over eat.

here is a sample of my son's schedule when he was 7 months

7:00-breakfest (infant cereal)

11:30-lunch (baby food jar vegetable)

3:00-snack (bottle and baby mum mum crackers)

5:00-dinner (baby cereal mixed with baby food meat and vege and a little bit of fruit baby food for dessert)

he is 11 months now and i only recently had to tweak his schedule but he still has breakfest/lunch/snack/dinner and now he has 2 cups of milk (instead of bottles) 1 cup of half and half water/juice and 1 bottle before bed

hope this helps :)

Breastfeed on demand, and give table foods with the rest of the family. My children, starting at 6 months, eat meals with us when we eat them, so three a day plus snacks. Never pureed or jarred foods, since we start them on whatever the rest of the family is eating and it's fine. We don't ever use a clock to dictate when we're hungry, it's just a go-with-the-flow here.

Hello Jen,

If my ten month old was 7 months old this would be a day of food for her.

Wake up gets a bottle.

3 hrs later cereal & fruit

Then a nap.

Wake up Vegtable & fruit

Bottle about a half hr after lunch

Dinner Cereal & fruit again

bottle before bedtime.

I hope this helps! I'm a Mother of four my youngest is 10 months ( Madeline) old so If you have any

more question please feel free to ask away.. Take care, Amanda

It all depends on the child and how long you have been weaning for, I would say breakfast, lunch and dinner with a morning and afternoon snack, along with the amount of milk/formula they should be having, When I weaned my daughter she would have a bottle when she woke, followed by breakfast, a snack aroung 10ish, lunch about 12 another snack if she seemed hungry, dinner with a bottle (until she showed no interest in milk) and then another bottle before bed.

I feed my 7 mo. old 4 7-Ounce bottles every 4 hrs with 3 meals in between. I found this link to be really helpful: I make my own food so the cube thing is easy for me, but each cube is equal to 1 ounce. Also, a new powder yogurt (like the rice and oatmeal) has just come out. My son loves this product. I usually try to keep it organic and this doesn't have an organic option, but still I think this is a great product overall especially when I run out of Yo Baby yogurt. Next month I plan on indrocucing a snack somewhere in there...

It depends on the child. I just say try feeding the child breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If at anytime the child refuses to eat, just try to feed them a hour or so later. I can't really remember, because my child is breastfed, so I breast fed her and gave her baby food.

I didnt breast feed my second and I wait for a long time almost like 9 months befor giving solids and my baby eats about every 2 hrs. I wouldnt worry to much. If you think its been more than 4-6 hrs during the day. call your pediatrician.
