Hi , my 5 years old daughter keeps stuffing her nose, ears and mouth with foreign objects . Rushed to ER last summer when I found a pearl bead stuck in her ear , since then she did not try to do that until yesterday when I received a note from her teacher at school regarding my daughter stuffing her nose with rocks and swallowing different foreign objects . It was pretty serious , she shocked this time and that's what made the teacher write me about it And tell me that act took place several times !!!
My husband and myself tried our best explaining to our daughter that she made a poor choice and she has to be more careful about her safety . I am very anxious ,very concerned about her safety and don't know how to make her stop doing it . Moms ,please share any similar situations and how did you handle it .

My kid used to be the same. After the first time, I called the physician. He said "he stuck rocks up his nose, eh? Grab some tweezers and pop them out."
So we did. After the second time, my son told me he wanted to go to the doctor. I took him to the doctor, he looked at the kid's nose, said "Well, since you won't let your mom remove them, I have to do it here, with a sharp knife, or you can go back home and let your mom do it. If you don't like it, DON'T DO IT AGAIN"
The kid never did it again after the second time. Now, I do NOT recommend self removal of items in ears, but for items in noses, tweezers are great. Otherwise, punishment is in order every time you have to take her in. Each time, she loses a favorite toy. Generally that shuts down the misbehaving in a heartbeat.
