When my son was born he was 10pound 4 and half. Hes now 2months old and is 14pound 5. He's on hungry milk and drinks 7oz. Sometimes after his bottle he is still hungry and eyes up other peoples food.He goes 4 hours between feeds in the and sleeps though the night I know hes to young to start weaning. How old till he can baby rice? And does anyone else have the same problem?

My son was 7.4 when he was born I had to go look at my baby book but at 2 months he was also 14.5 lbs. So that should make you feel good. He also loves to eat. He is now 4 months and eats 6 oz every 3-4 hours. I think he was at 6 oz at 3 months also. So it sounds to me like your little guy is fine. LOL I laugh when you say he eyes peoples food because my little guy does the same thing and I think it is sooo funny! My son is 4 month and I am sure he weighs 18-19lbs now at 3 months he was 17.8 and 26.5 inches long. I would contact your doc and ask about the rice some doctors will recommend putting it in their bottle to fill them up! My daughter ate way more than my son does and she was smaller than him at this age. I think he is just a hungry boy and wants to eat so feed him. Some times my son will eat and then a couple hours later he will want a bottle again just so he can go to sleep. He won't eat it but he makes me make it and then takes 2 sucks and is out. :) Your son is not overly big so don't worry about that! He is very cute and yes we most of us have hungry babies who want to eat a lot.

If you are very concerned call you doctor that is what he is paid for!I I think when my daughter was born I was on the phone with my doctor every day..lol...

I did not know that babies with colic ate more because that would explain my daughter. She had colic so bad and wanted to eat all the time. my little guy is such a good baby compared to her..it is amazing that I even wanted another one after her..lol :)

It is a common problem now-a-days babies have "growing pains", my son had to be put on enfamil A.R. (added rice formula)3 weeks after birth because I wasn't producing enough milk while I was breast feeding. It is perfectly ok to give this to newbies, it says so on the can, betweeen breast feedings. Start his off with one 4oz bottle a day between feeding just to keep him full, do a lunch bottle. The only thing you have to be sure to do is monitor his weight and keep your pediatrician informed of your decision to supplement. Hope this helps! ~Rachell Bailey

if he's hungry FEED HIM!! don't worry about what anyone alse tells you about there kids, all kids are different. my son was on rice cerel @ 8 wks because he was sooo hungry, off the spoon, he would nurse on both sides then 45 min later he was starving again & would drink 6-8 oz of formula, his aunt started him on cerel & poof he wasn't as hungry any more. she started the spoon right away in stead of a "feeder bottle" because she looked @ it as more time to bond w/ him. he was my second child & is now 14 going to start high school, loves fruits & veggies, salad, eats very healthy( but that is alot of what i buy) good luck

I have a two month old son also, and I just talked to my pediatrician about giving him rice cereal; and he said absolutely no cereal until four months because if given before it can cause food allergies. He also said no baby food until five months and more solid food at six months, because they too can cause food allergies. Everyone keeps telling me to give it to my son to help him sleep through the night, but after talking to my pediatrician, I will wait til he is four months.

I had a 10 pound 2 ounce son that I nursed for a few months but had to supplement with formula because he was ALWAYS hungry. I now have a very strong opinion regarding starting solid foods earlier than reccommended, which is not to do it! The reason you should wait until 6 months to start introducing solid foods is due to the fact that it increases a childs risk of developing food allergies. I went against those guidelines & started him at 4 months. Sure, he was more satisfied, which is ultimately what is most important, but he now has some bad food allergies. I waited until the 6month mark with his older brother & he has no food allergies.

In the end its obviously you're call as his mommy, but just wanted you to be aware of why they recommend waiting. Best wishes to you!

I agree just go with your gut, I started giving my son cereal at 2 months and he did great with it. I was always told not to give any in the bottles though, start with 2 tbsp and go from there, it will do wonders. good luck!!

every doctor will tell you a different age to sgtart feeding your baby my son ped told me to start veggies at 8 weeks old so i did. i started rice with my son at 4 weeks an i ask my lac nurse an she gave me the best advice anyone has ever giving me (he is your child ) so i started rice at 4 weeks, if you wanna try giving him a couple of tsp of rice an if he acts like he is in pain or if he spits up then you should stop, alot of people an doctors these day say not to start anything till 6 months of age but 40+ years ago they gave rice in babys bottle right after they were born an well i dunno about anyone else but every one i no who is that old is fine you have to go with your gut an trial an err good luck

I was having a problem with my son drinking 6 oz every 3 hours. So my pediatrician put him on rice cereal at 3 months and has done great with it.

I think go with your gut to be honest. All doctors and Health Visitors tell u different things everytime. I know a lot of things have changed since our parents had kids with health regs etc but my partners mum gave birth to him at 10lb and he was fed baby rice at 6wk old and was fine, and my mum fed me at 3month old and didnt do any harm!! I started feeding my little girl at 4month but she wasnt intrested b4 then but was already on cow and gate 2 milk. My Friend also fed her little boy baby rice and 3month and hes a big boy!! Best of luck. xxx

Ask your pediatrician first, and if he gives the ok, then follow his instructions as to the amount and type of cereal. My daughter was 19 pounds at 3 months and the Dr said I was overfeeding her. So give your Dr a call, he might tell you over the phone.
