My 10week old daughter has hydrocephalus will she be ok to fly in October this year? She had her shunt fitted at 1day old and has had 4 operations since will it be safe for her to fly?

I would ask her neurosurgeon. They would be the best to determine if it is okay for your daughter to fly. Some people w/hydro have issues with the changes in cabin pressure and barometric pressure. My friend with the most extreme case of this simply flies as little as possible and takes the train for trips--long or short. But, every case is different. Your daughter may be fine traveling. I would suggest getting a cd of your daughter's medical records from her medical team, so you would have that with you in case she needs medical assistance when you are traveling.

I would just seek professional medical advice on this one. I would hate to have someone here tell you the wrong thing, and have her end up with brain damage or worse. Not worth it. This is NOT a question for the mothers on this site. This question is only for doctors.
