Also, 1st day my son seemed content but was up most of night then he had ok day yest and today hes bin really unsettled, is this common? Ive rang doc and they say nothing more can do as he gets paracetamol and ibrufen + antispasm tabs. Im not happy and am very worried as with dressing applied i cant see anything to make sure all ok! Anesthetic for the dressing and catheter removal? It's usually not necessary. The cath removal is quick, and should be painless. Same with the dressing.

And, if today's around the 3rd day after the initial procedure, the restlessness is actually common. Most surgeries will have after effects around the 3rd day, as a result of the anesthetic used during the procedure. What he's already getting, the paracetamol and ibuprofen will be fine for that.

Catheter shouldn't affect kidney problems, it's there to move the urine out of the bladder, which helps the kidneys. If you've researched, and only found the same answers as the physicians are giving you, then I'd say they're giving you pretty good answers. It's hard to watch our little guys be down with surgeries, etc, but the good thing is that they generally bounce back fairly quickly, and in this particular case, the repair done should last his lifetime, so he will not have any more problems in this area
