I am a landscaper and just recently found out that I was pregnant. I am 4 weeks and 6 days today. I work 8 hours a day in the heat and can be on a ride on lawn mower for up to 5 hours a day. I am paranoid that this is going to cause me to miscarry or have a harmful effect on my baby. What is everyones opinions? i need some reassurance.

I agree with Amy. Check with your doc. to make sure, but as she said before pregnancy activities are usually fine. I do daycare for ages 0-3 yrs.....those ages are physically demanding job on your body. I did not change any of my activities due to my pregnancy and worked all the way up until I delivered. I was also training for a walking marathon when I found out I was pregnant. I actually found out that walking is REALLY good for you while pregnant. It helps decrease morning sickness and helps increase your energy. So at 2 months pregnant I did my marathon I had been training for....finished in 9 hours. For the heat just make sure you are drinking enough fluids.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns but as a general rule if you did it before you were pregnant (activities) you can usually continue. I work retail, on my feet 9+ hours a day, climbing ladders, lifting 30 lb boxes, very active I had a very easy pregnancy and a very quick labor.
