I'm 33 with a 18 month old. I breastfeed and have cut down to conceive

I still have no period. I went from breastfeeding 5 to 6 times through the day and night to just one feeding a day in hopes that I will start ovulating. Is it possible to get pregnant while breastfeeding once a day, or do I need to stop completely? i have started to get cramping in the last few days since cutting down on the feedings. Can I get pregnant if I catch the ovulation before getting my period? I have been using ovulation tests, but I am getting unclear results. We are having intercourse about once every few days in hopes that we can catch ovulation. I could use some good advice cause my best friend says I need to completely stop breastfeeding to get pregnant and I don't wont to.

People's bodies are very different, and one person's experience may not apply to your situation. Breastfeeding works to delay periods and ovulation in some people, but not others. Cutting down on feeding 'could' prompt your body to begin ovulating, but you may have to stop completely. And, yes, you could possibly get pregnant before you get your period back. But we have no way of knowing what your body will do. You may want to speak with a doctor. At 18 months, it's perfectly acceptable to stop breastfeeding.
