I'm having trouble getting my 2 1/2 yr old son to sleep in his own bed. Any suggestions?

A few months ago my husband let our son into our bed, and ever since then we can't get him out. He won't fall asleep in his own bed and if we move him there after he does fall asleep in our, he wakes up within half an hour and comes back to our room. At first he had a toddler bed, which he didn't like. So we just went out and bought him and "big boy" bed. Last night was his first night in it, and when I tried to put him in it at bedtime, he just wanted to play with his toys in bed. So we took him to our room, he was alseep within 10 minutes. We moved him back to his room, then about 1/2 an hour later we was coming to our room again. My husband took him to his room, and my son proceeded to cry about every 15 minutes for about 2 hrs because he didn't want to be in there, he finally settled down about 3:30am. So, really I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar issue and have any ideas on how to get him to stay in his own bed?

Just stick with it. As soon as he realises he cannot sleep in your bed, he should relax in his own. He is just testing the boundaries, as toddlers do. Don't fall into the trap of letting him sleep in your bed - you'll never get him out of it! My friend is having serious problems getting her little one to sleep in his own bed as he has always slept in hers. My little boy has always slept alone in his own bed and is happy there. It may take a week or so of battling, but don't let him even fall asleep. In your bed. Just keep putting I'm back in his own. He will soon be happy to go to sleep there on his own x
