HI, does any1 have meal suggestions for my 8mth old baby? so far she has tried all the vegies that I can think of, plus rice, farex and even weet-bix, but i'm getting sick of the same old same old, and I think she is too! If any1 has suggestions for making meal time more fun I would really appreciate it, my next eldest is 5 and I seem to have forgotten this bit.....................

At 8 months I would be giving soft chunks.  You can also do cubed cheese, and Stonybrook Farms has a yogurt called Yo-baby.  It is organic and has the probiotics that assist digestion and aid in fighting bad bacteria.  All my kids did really well on it even my youngest that is allergic to milk

i would not at 8 months still be mashing things totally smooth, as baby can at this age handle soft chunks. also try mixing it up and combining flavours as if they are bored with bland stuff, some more complex tastes are appropriate (not too many flavours, but two together).

Eggs, yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes (and sweet potatoes), farina, oatmeal, you can even puree things like chicken soup (it still tastes really good). We started dairy at 12 months, but due to a milk protein intolerance, we used only soy. We are reintroducing cow's milk now (she's 18 months) for the 2nd time & she's doing well with it this time~thankfully.

by 8 mnths i had given up mashing and would give the steamed veg etc to them as a stick of carrot or whole floret of brocolli, etc, the lamb cutlet bone to suck on... they seemed to want to be independant more than anything.. put down the splash mat, and let her explore... schedule bath time for after meals, it doesn't really matter how much she gets in, 'cause up till 12 months, breastmilk is 90% of thier daily nutriion anyway!

oh and i remember those meat poos too... you can tell something has died... lol

Yes she loves to have her own spoon! So funny to see her watching the older ones and try to copy! Thanx for the advice, maybe I'll try her on some meat tomorrow... I do remember how gross meat and yogurt poos are tho.... by the way, what age do you start dairy products??

Hey Isabelle,

By 8 mths the baby should be able to eat anything mashed up - cook your meal and then with the vege's mash in some ground beef and shreaded chicken - this will make a change for her.  Just remember to only introduce one thing every couple of days to monitor if there is any alergic reaction.  Have fun and give her a spoon to try and feed herself too - they love it - heheheheheh.
