I would like to get some help or if someone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome. So my son is going to be 4 years old in June, his biological father was around him for the first year he was born on and off, but was never available during any holidays not even my sons birthday. After that first year his father has probably only seen him maybe a total of 10 times. We went to court last March for full custody, because he decided to try going to his daycare to get him or anywhere just to take him from me, I believe this was just to get to me, because obviously he doesn't want Hayden otherwise he would try to be around regularly (every other weekend or whatever) Well I did get full custody, but I was so excited about getting full custody and not having to worry about him trying to take him, that I agreed to letting his father claim him every other year (stupid move on my part) I need help, I don't think he should get to claim him ever. He only pays $600 the whole YEAR in child support and it's been about 6 months since he has even tried to contact me to see Hayden let alone just check on how he's doing. Is there some kind of abandonment law or anything that I can look into that might help with the whole tax issue?? I talked to a lawyer the other day and she said there is pretty much nothing I can do to change that unless I have good reasoning to why I changed my mind. It's like well he only pays $600 the whole year and never sees him and then he'll turn around and claim him to get at least $1500 back and I'm really the only one that takes care of him... Please if any one has

Isn't the fact that your ex doesn't spend any time with your son a good enough reason to change the tax form? I have no idea about any of this, but I'd keep trying, if not with that lawyer than with one that specializes in tax code or child welfare. Good luck!
